Finding the Right Sized Cover
Choosing the right size cover isn’t always as simple as matching your caravan or camper to a standard size. Every setup is a little different, and getting it right makes all the difference when it comes to fit, protection and longevity.

Start with the Body Length
The best place to start is measuring the longest length of the main body of your caravan or camper - along the bottom edge.
This gives you a solid baseline for choosing the correct cover size.
What Else Do You Need to Cover?
This is where things can vary.
Many vans and campers have extras that extend beyond the main body, such as:
-
Toolboxes
-
Gas bottles
-
Spare tyres
-
Stone guards
-
Winches (common on camper trailers)
If you want these covered, you’ll need to allow extra length - which often means going up a size.
Camper Trailers - Watch the Front
Camper trailers are one of the most common areas people get caught out.
The front section often includes a winch, toolbox and stone guard, which can add significant length. If you don’t account for these, the cover simply won’t fit properly.
Caravans & Pop Tops - It Depends
Some caravans are straightforward and only need the body covered.
Others have front-mounted accessories like toolboxes or gas bottles that you may want included under the cover.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here - it really depends on your setup.

Should You Cover the Drawbar & Hitch?
We generally don’t recommend it.
Covers are designed as a rectangular shape. If you try to extend them over the drawbar or hitch, you’ll end up with excess loose material that can:
-
Collect water
-
Flap in the wind
-
Wear out faster
If you really want full coverage, a simple workaround is to create a basic frame (e.g. using electrical conduit) to support the cover and prevent sagging.
Preventing Water Pooling
One of the most important (and often overlooked) things is water runoff.
Features like:
-
Air conditioners
-
Solar panels
-
Roof racks
can create low points where water collects.
To avoid this:
-
Use pool noodles, foam or similar to create a slight dome under the cover
-
Store your van on a slight angle (adjust the jockey wheel up or down)
-
Make sure water can run off easily
Camper Trailer Tip
Some camper trailers have raised racks or flat tops where water can pool in the middle.
A simple fix:
-
Place a basketball, crate or similar object underneath the cover to create a peak
-
This helps water run off instead of sitting and causing damage
Why There’s No Perfect Size Guide
Every caravan, camper and hybrid setup is different.
That’s why a simple size chart can only get you so far - the right fit depends on:
-
Your exact model
-
What accessories you have
-
What you want covered
